I was extremely pleased to get a glimpse of Nichole de Carle’s new swim collection– and I am even more pleased to share it with you. I feel like swimwear is a tricky business– so akin to lingerie, but even more limited by the strictures of modesty and practicality. Looking through this Nichole de Carle collection, I feel I must assess the pieces on these criteria: Would this be flattering on me? Would this be flattering on anyone? Is it beautiful in its own right?
This first swimsuit fulfills all of those points with a solid yes. I love the graphic black and white pattern and the underwire cups that go well with the typical Nichole de Carle look. Plus, the chevron pattern looks so flattering. In fact, I wish I had this gorgeous suit right now! And that is high praise from me as I hardly ever like one-pieces (for me in any case– I find that they’re tricky when you’re small busted).
This bikini is also excellent. The high-waisted bottoms are cute and retro with the nice chevron pattern. The top seems like a pretty basic cut that would be good for any full-busted people. Basically, I think this looks like a pretty suit and the mix of patterns is fun and modern.
This swimsuit is less my cup of tea. I do like the continued black and white theme and the cup shape is lovely. When it comes to the straps, however, I am a little bit less than thrilled. This just does not seem doable on anyone larger than that model without some ungainly bulges, something most people want to avoid. Practically speaking, I wouldn’t even think about trying this on my body.
Again, the whole bandeau with harness brief combination seems quite unflattering. The placement of the harness below the bellybutton seems to draw attention to the whole lower ab area that I for one would not want emphasized. In addition, the harness is not a shape I’ve seen on Nichole de Carle lingerie, so it reminds me more of Lascivious or Made by Niki.
Anything I liked about the black and white colorway of this suit is negated with the addition of the coral coloring. I do like bright colors at the beach, but the combination of black/coral with the linear, graphic style seems ill-matched.
Happily, we can end with a breath of delightful fresh air! This bikini seems both sporty and stylish, with the flattering high waist and distinctive black and white pattern. The top might be more flattening than enhancing to your bust, but it seems like it would be excellent for the active beach goer or swimmer. I love anything that looks both beautiful and practical.
All in all, I’m excited to see Nichole de Carle’s debut swim collection and there are definitely some winners. However, I would love to hear from you about your thoughts– do you agree with my assessment? Or does the coral color make you swoon with happiness? Leave a comment.
