Lingerie Review: La Fée Verte Ikat Cami and Briefs
The real reason I bought this La Fée Verte set was because I fell in love with the gorgeous fabric. I saw it first in the romper– which I eyed with longing, while also knowing that it would be a very risky choice. Then they romper AND the cami and briefs came up on Gilt.com and I knew I needed to nab them– but practicality and fear of how a romper would look drove me towards the cami and briefs– and I am so glad it did!
Now, like with any review, I need to start with my first impression. The fabric was even lovelier in person and add to that the buttery softness of silk and I couldn’t wait to wear it! The versatility of the cami/briefs combo is that you can wear them as nightwear, loungewear or “regular” wear, a feature that I plan to make great use of.
An interesting thing about trying something that may not be what you usually wear is how much you discover about your own likes and dislikes. Now, I’ve been living in a dorm for the past four years, where my sleepwear mostly consisted of flannel pyjamas. Not necessarily the most chic, but warm, comfy and appropriate for running into drunken neighbors in the hall. But now that I’m a proper grown-up, I thought this set would do perfectly as my first foray into sexy, sophisticated sleepwear. What I failed to realize was that you have to sleep in a sexy, sophisticated way for this plan to work, at least if sexy and sophisticated includes “spagetti straps.” Given that I flail around at night as if the pillow and I are in an endless wresting match, the straps became tangled everywhere and I thought in the morning I was going to be trussed up like a chicken– and not in a “bondage” way. For now I’m afraid I’ll be sticking to my flannels and tee shirts to sleep in.
Despite the sleeping drawbacks, I am extremely pleased with this set. The panties are soft and so comfy for any occasion (not necessarily matched to the cami, unless it’s as loungewear). I wore the cami as a top this weekend with a strapless bra underneath and it was gorgeous– there is a slit in the back the makes it a little risqué for a formal situation, but perfect for a walk on the beach (which is naturally where I wore it). I got the medium and it fit me exactly, which is excellent– online sizing can be a toss-up. I would say the sizing is very “true-to-size,” so if you’re nervous, size up.
I have to say, I can’t wait to slip on this gorgeous camisole’s silky deliciousness once again, and I’m planning outfits in my head to wear it with. So, if you see a long-haired brunette rushing around NYC enthusiastically wearing this cami, it might well be me

This set is beautiful! Those colors are so, so pretty. La Fee Verte is fairly new to me, so it’s so nice to see a review. I, too, love the concept of sexy sleepwear, but I inevitably find myself changing into a t-shirt once it’s time for, you know, actual sleeping
ohhh, love it!
I didn’t know this label yet, so thx for bringing it to my attention. Gorgeous stuff!
I love how bright the fabric is. It’s too bad you don’t think they’re all that secure to sleep in, but they’re nice looking all the same. As long as you can wear them at some point.
